Geometry with Geometry Explorer  by Michael Hvidsten (McGraw Hill, 2005)

  1. Read Sections 1.1 and 1.2

 

 

  1. Read Section 1.3, learn how to use the Geometry Explorer software, and follow all the steps to construct the Golden Ratio and Golden Rectangles. Make a picture (using the software) based on your constructions. For instance, click here to see a picture I made in which every shaded rectangle is a Golden Rectangle. You can do whatever you like, as long as your creation somehow uses the construction of Golden Ratios or Golden rectangles. To submit your picture, send it to me as an attachment to an email message.  You can do this as follows:
    1. Select Save as.. in the File menu of Geometry Explorer
    2. Call your file Homework1pic.gex  and put it in a file where you can find it again!
    3. Attach the file to an email to me (bradlow@uiuc.edu) with subject line 402 homework 1 pic
