  1. 5.1.4 – 5.1.9;
  2. 5.2.4
  3. Find the 3x3 matrices which represent the following isometries of the plane at z=1:

1.       reflection across the line y=x

2.      rotation through 45 degrees around the origin

3.      translation by 4 units in the positive x-direction

4.      rotation through 45 degrees around the origin, followed by translation by 4 units in the positive x direction

5.      translation by 4 units in the positive x direction, followed by  rotation through 45 degrees around the origin

 

Problem 3 has been moved to Assignment 9 since we didn’t cover the relevant material in class in time.
