The final exams have been graded and the final course
grades have been assigned. All the grades have been posted via Score Reports
and you should be able to access them. The details of grade assignment
rules are explained in the table at the bottom of this page.
You may come and take a look at your final exams as well
as discuss your grades on Tuesday, May 8 and Wednesday, May 9 from 10am
till 12noon in my office.
If you cannot come during these times, e-mail me and
we'll try to set an appointment for a different time.
I'll submit the grade roster to the registrar on Thursday,
May 10. All issues related to course grades must be settled by that
time. I will generally not consider any requests for a change
of grade after that. So please check all your grades now and if there are
any issues you want to raise, do that by May 10.
In
response to the requests for a more covenient office hours time and after
taking an informall poll of the class I am moving my Tuesday office hours
to 3-4pm. This is a permanent change effective till the end of the term.
If this or other official office hours periods are not convenient for you,
you are very welcome to see me at other times by appointment.
There will be an in-class review for the final exam on Wednesday,
May 2. No h/work is due that day although I still recommend that you go
over the problerms from H/work no. 13 while preparing for the exam. I will
have extra office hours on Thursday, May 3, 2-4pm in my office.
Please check your h/wk, quiz and exam grades in Score
reports for accuracy. If there are any problems, please come and see me
during my office ours on Tuesday or Thursday.
The final exam will take place on Friday, May 4, 8:00-11:00 AM in our usual classroom. The exam will be cumulative and will include all the material covered during the course. Specifically, the sections covered are:
Ch. 2.1-2.10, 2.12-2.19; Ch. 3.1-3.6; Ch. 4.3-4.7, Ch. 4.9; Ch 5.1-5.12.
The exam will be structured similarly to the
midterms: there will be
one multiple choice theoretical problem with several
parts and nine computational problems. Review problems
are homework problems assigned for these chapters. You
should expect the computational problems on the exam to be somewhat
easier than homework problems and somewhat harder than
the quiz problems.
You are allowed to use TWO two-sided sheets of
notes on the final exam.
Anonymous on-line
feedback form is now available.
The FINAL EXAM for this course is scheduled for 8:00-11:00
AM, Friday, May 4 in our usual classroom. Please make sure now that this
time is acceptable for you (if not, you urgently need to register for another
section!) Keep in mind that I will not entertain any requests for "conflict"
final exams from people who do not have what the university officially
recognizes as a "conflict". See
the official university rules regarding exam conflicts here.
