Modern approach to homotopy localizations.
I will try to look at the homotopy category through the eyes of idempotent functors often called localizations. Old and well known examples are homology localizations and Postnikov sections. A stunning example is the Neisendorfer localization. I will discuss the question of the existence of localizations defined in a manner dual to the Bousfield f -localization that is the terminal one for which a fixed space Z is local.
