This is a report on joint work with R. Alexander and D. Berg. An arc-length formula due to Montes and a surface area formula due to Minkowski are generalized to arbitrary co-dimensions in Euclidean, spherical, and hyperbolic $n$-space. We speculate that this is related to the different arc-length formula in the hyperbolic plane presented recently in this seminar by Berg and Alexander.
