- A Short Short Course in Data Mining.
I attended a short course in data mining at Interface 1999. The course surveyed the leading computer-intensive algorithms for inductive classification and estimation. The inner workings of methods drawn from data mining, statistics, and machine learning were described and compared. The course payed particular attention to four approaches: neural networks, polynomial networks, kernels, and decision trees. I will give a brief description of these methods along with the current "state of the art".
