- Geometry Revisited -- Dynamically.
In their classic little book, Geometry Revisited, Coxeter and Greitzer present a loosely connected set of topics blending classic theorems with more modern and even (at least for 1967) recent results and perspectives. In that spirit, this talk focuses on three topics: Apollonius' Three Tangent Theorem for parabolas, Feuerbach's Theorem on the nine-point circle, and the Asymmetric Propellor Theorem that Martin Gardner discussed in a Monthly article within the last year. We will examine some extensions and generalizations of these results. The only unifying theme is the way that these topics can still inspire interest and applications, along with the way they can all be brought to life using Geometer's Sketchpad.
