FROM THE MATHEMATICS LIBRARY

Changes are already underway that will lead to the new library database and system. New records are not being added so that a "snapshot" can be taken of the current system for the conversion. The most recent set of new books received can be viewed here. This list can be searched by various methods. For example, you can search by Mathematics Library or by call number range within the Mathematics Library. We will be adding these books to our New Book Shelf and circulating them normally during this transition period. As always, if you have any problems finding the materials you need, please talk to the library staff. We are happy to be of assistance. (We encourage our patrons to visit the "Books & Bytes" web site to find out more about the new system.)

ONLINE CATALOG SYSTEM CHANGES:

  1. General Information
  2. Policies and Procedures for Borrowing Library Materials

List of Journals Received Week of August 3, 1998.

Rare Book Received:
A few years ago, an unpublished Einstein manuscript on special relativity was auctioned off and then donated to the Israel Museum in Jerusalem. A facsimile of the manuscript with an English translation on facing pages was made available. Nancy Anderson requested a copy to be included in the UIUC Rare Book Room collection. She thought you may wish to look at it and reports it is truly beautiful.
