IMPORTANT DATES - SPRING 1998

March 16 Second half-session courses begin (nontraditional courses may begin earlier or later).
March 18 Invitation to register for Fall 1998 and Summer Terms 1 & 2 mailed to all students.
March 23-29 SPRING BREAK begins 1:00 PM, Saturday.
March 27 Deadline for an undergraduate student to add a second half-session course.
April 3 Deadline for an undergraduate student to withdraw from the University and receive the minimum 40% pro-rata refund; Deadline for a graduate student to withdraw from the University and receive the minimum 40% pro-rata refund.
April 6 Registration for Fall 1998 begins; registration for Summer Terms I and 2 begins.
April 10 Deadline for a graduate student to add a second half-session course.
April 17 Deadline for an undergraduate student to drop a second half-session course and to elect credit-no credit or to change credit-no credit to regular grade basis in a second half-session course; Deadline for a graduate student to drop a semester course.
April 27 Registration begins for nondegree students and new students for Summer Terms 1 & 2.
May 1 Deadline for a graduate student to drop a second half-session course.
May 6 Last day of instruction.
May 7 Reading day (no classes, no final examinations).
May 8 Class schedules mailed for Summer Term 1.
May 8 - 15 Final examination period.
May 17 Commencement.

May 18 First day of instruction; 5:00 PM Deadline to clear an encumbrance.

May 20 5:00 PM Deadline for undergraduate students to add a new course; 5:00 PM Deadline for graduate students to add a new course.
May 25 Memorial Day - All-Campus Holiday.
May 27 12:00 PM Payment due.
May 29 5:00 PM Deadline to elect credit-no credit option, to change credit-no credit option to regular grade basis and to withdraw or drop a course without academic penalty.
June 5 Registration schedules mailed for Summer Term 2.
June 12 Last day of instruction.
June 13 Final examination period.

June 26 Last day for undergraduate students to drop a first half-term course, to elect credit-no credit or to change credit-no credit to regular grade basis in a first half-term course; Last day for graduate students to add an eight-week course and to add a first half-term course.
July 2 Last day for graduate students to drop a first half-term course, to elect credit-no credit or to change credit-no credit to regular grade basis in a first half-term course.
July 3 Independence Day - All-Campus Holiday.
July 10 Last day for undergraduate students to add a second half-term course, drop an eight-week course, to elect credit-no credit or to change credit-no credit to regular grade basis in an eight-week course; Last day for graduate students to add name to August graduation list.
July 13 Second half-term courses begin.
July 24 Last day for undergraduate students to drop a second half-term course, to elect credit-no credit or to change credit-no credit to regular grade basis in a second half-term course; Last day for graduate students to add a second half-term course, to drop an eight-week course, to elect credit-no credit or to change credit-no credit to regular grade basis in an eight-week course.
July 31 Last day for graduate students to deposit August master's degree thesis in the Graduate College, to drop a second half-term course, to elect credit-no credit or to change credit-no credit to regular grade basis in a second half-term course.
August 5 12:00 PM Last day of instruction.
August 6 12:00 PM Reading day (no classes, no final exams).
August 7-8 Final examination period.
August 10 August graduation date (no commencement exercises).
