- FROM THE MATHEMATICS LIBRARY
- WAIVER CARDS:
-
- To all Mathematics Faculty and Graduate Students:
As many of you know, the Mathematics Library has for many years
maintained a list of library users from the Mathematics Department who
have agreed, by signing a "waiver card", to have their names released
to another user when another user needed a book or journal(ASAP!)
which they had borrowed. Waiver cards are a way around state and
federal privacy laws which forbade us to give out circulation
information. Many members of the department agreed to sign the cards
in the interest of timely sharing of library materials rather than
necessitate the library staff call the borrower. We intend to
continue to maintain that file.
Since our new system does not rely on the use of the social security
number for borrower records, we will be removing social security
numbers from existing authorization cards. If you were reluctant to
participate in this program before because you wanted to maintain
privacy of your social security number, we invite you to consider
participating at this time. New faculty members and graduate students
are invited to stop by the Mathematics library circulation desk to
fill out a card authorizing the release of their name to another borrower.
- NEW BOOKS:
-
- It is not possible yet to add new records to the new library database system. The most recent set of new books received can be viewed here. This list can be searched by various methods; for example, by Mathematics Library or by call number range within the Mathematics Library. These books will be added to our New Book Shelf and circulated normally. If you have any problems finding the materials you need, please ask our library staff for assistance.
