The Convergence of Mathematics and Actuarial Science Research.
A new paradigm is evolving in actuarial science -- one that takes its traditional mathematical foundation and enhances it with theories and techniques from the fields of finance and advanced mathematics. This session will explore current trends in actuarial science research, with emphasis on areas of convergence with mathematics. Examples of actuarial science research topics which will benefit from collaboration with mathematicians include financial mathematics, stochastic calculus, and fuzzy set theory.
