Teaching Assistantships
The Department of Mathematics expects to have funds for about 15-20 new 50%-time Teaching Assistantships in the Fall 2008 semester. These positions are for full-time graduate students in mathematics only. The salary for a 50% appointment will be at least $17,105 and will include a full tuition waiver for the fall, spring, and summer semesters plus a partial fee waiver.A 50%-time TA appointment consists of at most 20 clock hours of instructional duties per week. These hours may include grading, recitation sections in support of a large lecture course, or individually taught courses.
Fellowships
The Department of Mathematics offers several types of fellowships (both full year and partial year). These include University Fellowships and several named fellowships. Although the stipends vary, most offer a stipend of at least $8,500 per semester and each includes a tuition waiver and partial fee waiver.The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity employer.
