Controlled K-theory, by Andrew A. Ranicki and Masayuki Yamasaki
The controlled finiteness obstruction and torsion are defined
using controlled algebra, giving a self-contained algebraic proof of the
theorem of Chapman on the topological invariance of Whitehead torsion
and the theorem of West on homotopy finiteness of compact ANRs.
See the paper of Anderson, Connolly and Munkholm (nr. 0008) for the
comparison of continuously controlled and controlled K-theory.
