Hints for travel

Sedano is a tiny town near the city of Burgos, itself 1h20m by train from Valladolid.
The closest city is
Burgos; the international airport closest to Burgos is Valladolid airport (122km ).  The general
on arrival day (Jan 22) is to get together at the
Burgos train station in time to get on the bus to Sedano leaving at 4pm.

The are 3 different possibilities to get to Sedano:

  • Driving on your own. You can prepare an itinerary clicking here.
  • Going by bus from Burgos. The bus company that operates from Burgos to Sedano is Continental-Auto. There is one bus in the morning and another one in the afternoon; a ticket costs 2.94 euros.  The "Madrid-Santander por Torrelavega" line runs daily, leaving  Burgos at 10:30 and arriving at Sedano at 11:35. The "Burgos-Arija" line  departs at 16:00 and arrives at 17:05. It runs Mo-We-Fri.

We suggest …

  • If you drive on your own, be careful with the snow.
  • If you travel to Burgos: some of us will meet in the Burgos train station at 15:40 to take the bus to Sedano at 16:00 on Monday. Please, let us know if you would like to join us, because we have to make a reservation.
  • If you travel to Valladolid: some of us will meet in the Valladolid train station at 10:40 to get on the train departing to Burgos at 11:00 on Monday.

Beware: In January the bus and train schedules may vary, as well as the ticket
prices. If this happens we will let you know.

How to get to Burgos from...

MADRID: If you fly to Madrid-Barajas airport you can travel to Burgos by bus or by train, (it is faster and cheaper by bus).
The bus company that operates from
Madrid to Burgos is Continental-Auto. There is a bus approximately every 2 hours (14.72 euros). You can get on the bus at the "Intercambiador de transportes de Avenida de América". To get to the "Intercambiador de transportes de Avenida de América" you can go by Taxi (25-30 euros) or by Metro (from aeropuerto station "linea 8" to the Colombia station then "linea 9" to Avenida de América station).

Madrid's railway station from which trains to Burgos depart is "Estación de Chamartín". In the web page of Renfe (national railway) you can check the timetable .To get to Chamartín railway station you can go by taxi (aprox. 25-30 euros) or by Metro (from aeropuerto station "linea 8" to the Nuevos Ministerios station then "linea 10" to the Chamartín station).

VALLADOLID: You may fly to Valladolid airport from Barcelona, Málaga, Brussels-Charleroi, Paris-Orly, Lisbon and London-Stansted.  This is probably the best option if you come from London or Brussels, since Ryanair usually has rather convenient fares. On the other hand, Air France charges very expensive fares from Paris. Once in Valladolid,  you may travel to Burgos by bus (Alsa) or by train (Renfe). To go from the Valladolid airport to the city, you may ride the bus, e.g. Linecar or take a taxi (a fixed rate of €18 Monday  trhough Saturday, €19.50 Sundays and holidays). The bus takes you to the Valladolid bus station; from there it is a 10 minute walk to the train station.

BILBAO: You can also travel to Bilbao-Bilbao airport, with the following destinations. If you want to travel to this airport please let us know and we will inform you.
