Breakdowns: Singularity Formation in Hydrodynamic Systems
We will discuss the development of singularities in condensed matter systems, following three main examples: breakup of fluid drops, fluids coming to a point, and aggregation of bacteria. We will bring together experiments, simulation, and theory to understand changes in behavior of these systems, as well as the qualitative behavior of solutions of relevant partial differential equations.
