Rolling and sliding
We look at several physical examples of problems
that involve rolling and sliding. These include drilling a
square or hexagonal hole, movie projectors, planimeters,
the tippe top, the shape of gears, rattlebacks, basketballs
in a hoop, fiddlesticks etc. Then we look at what of the
interesting developments and mathematical problems that
arise from studying such phenomena.
