Title: Solved and Unsolved Problems in Grade-School Mathematics.
Math education, especially in the elementary grades, seems antithetical to research in mathematics itself. But this need not be the case. The speaker will describe various problems which, while based on activities that kids can (and do) enjoy, easily lead to challenges that can engage the "serious" mathematician, from grad student to full professor.
