1. After QQ[t_1] it turns out that t_1 is not an element of the ring. Why?.
2. My Macaulay 2 application directory has no init.m2 file in it, and not much else. Why?
3. On my machine, the function keys f11 and f12 are intercepted by the operating system, and emacs doesn't respond to them.
