How to use NiftyTelnet SSH for Secure Copy (scp)
1. Find NiftyTelnet SSH
Locate NiftyTelnet SSH on your hard disk and start it.
If you don't have one, you can download it from <http://www.lysator.liu.se/~jonasw/freeware/niftyssh/>.
2. Upon Startup
You will be prompted for the host name to which you want to send your files to.
- When you first run NiftyTelnet, take time to make a "shortcut."
For the Math Department's server, choose "SSH-3DES" for Protocol.
- Choose ssh.math.uiuc.edu for host.
You can get this dialog by choosing "New Connection..." from the File menu as well.
3. Scp dialog box
When you click on "Scp..." button or hit Cmd-S, the scp dialog box appears.Here, you can choose upload (Send Files/Folders) or download (Receive Files/Folders).
- To upload files: make sure that the popup menu at the top shows "Send Files/Folders". (Or hit Cmd-1.)
Here, you can click on "Add File/Folder..." button, hit Cmd-F, or drang and drop from the
Finder to specify the files.
If you want to transfer the entire content of a folder, be sure to check the box for
"Copy Contents of Nested Folders".
For the Destination Path, you can use the shortcut "~" for your home directory.
- To download files: make sure that the popup menu at the top shows "Receive Files/Folders". (Or hit Cmd-2.)

The same hints apply as above.
Make sure that the files you're transfering do not have spaces in their file names.
4. Type in Password
When you're ready, click on "Start Copy" button.
You will be prompted for the password.
The transfer begins when you type in the password.
