Unrestricted Funds
Unrestricted gifts are especially valuable, as they can be used to support
any departmental initiatives as needs arise.
Mathematics Excellence Fund(#775705)
An unrestricted endowment fund, primarily used to create named endowments
for the support of students and/or faculty in the Department of Mathematics.

Library Funds
Shirley C. Cogdal Mathematics Library Fund in Memory of Paul
M. Tyner (#771546)
The Fund shall be used to provide library materials, equipment and services
to support the information needs of the Department of Mathematics at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Michio Suzuki Memorial Fund (#334081)
Funds shall be used to enhance and support the Mathematics Library.
Mathematics Library Fund

Funds donated to the Mathematics Library Fund go to support the current
operational needs of the library.
Mathematics Library Endowment (#372678)
Those donating to the Mathematics Library Endowment will see their contributions
grow and have an impact over time.
Nancy Anderson Library Endowment Fund
(#371042)
An endowment to support the Mathematics Library in perpetuity. Initially
established by Mathematics Librarian Nancy Anderson, professor of library
administration who retired in 2000. Her 10-year pledge is a challenge
to be matched by gifts from faculty, students, alumni, and friends to
continue support of the Mathematics Library housed in Altgeld Hall.
Scholarships, Fellowships, and Student Aid
Allstate Minority Actuarial Scholarship Program

For four $4,000 scholarships to be awarded annually to qualified minority
students in Actuarial Science at UIUC.
Actuarial Science Fund (#330225)
For scholarships, fellowships, stipends, development of lecture series
in actuarial sciences, reasonable administrative and promotional expenses.
The Lois M. Lackner Mathematics Fellowship (#773542)
This fellowship is for female graduate students in mathematics, with preference
given to students of Czechoslovakian descent.
The Lois M. Lackner Mathematics Scholarship (#773542)
This scholarship is for female undergraduate students in mathematics,
with preference given to students of Czechoslovakian descent.
Merit Workshop Program Fund (#334806)
This fund is used to support graduate and undergraduate teaching assistants
of Merit sections, the remodeling of an additional Merit classroom, or
for general operating expenses of the program. The Merit Workshop Program
offers an alternative teaching style in calculus classes for students
who are members of groups that tend to be underrepresented in the areas
of mathematics, science, and engineering. This includes women, ethnic
minorities, and students from rural high schools. More information about

Paul T. Bateman Number Theory Fellowship

To provide support for graduate students who are pursuing specialization
in number theory in the Department of Mathematics in the College of Liberal
Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Colleen Kilker Memorial Fund

Support of graduate students, including, but not limited to, travel support
for graduate students to go to conferences and workshops, but not restricted
to just travel. Also for needs that arise in the lives of graduate students
that cannot be foreseen.

Hohn-Nash Scholarship Fund (#772826)
The Fund shall be used to provide scholarships and/or fellowships to undergraduate
or graduate students enrolled in the Department of Mathematics in the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and in the Department of Computer
Science in the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign.
Elizabeth R. Bennett Scholarship in Mathematics

The Fund shall be used to provide scholarships for undergraduate students.
Awards are given based on a student's GPA and strength of courses with
preference given to senior-to-be or junior-to-be students. The fund was
established in 1974, a bequeath by Elizabeth R. Bennett who received her
Master's Degree in Mathematics in 1908 and her Ph.D. in 1910 from the
University of Illinois Urbana campus.
E.T. Parker Memorial (#773141)
The Fund shall be used to provide fellowships to graduate students or
faculty members in combinatorial areas of mathematics or statistics related
to the research interests of E. T. Parker.
Prizes and Awards
Greenwood and Trjitzinsky Prize in Undergraduate Mathematics

Each year undergraduates will be able to work on a summer project from
a list of possible subjects and write an essay about their work. A prize
will be given each year for the best essay by an undergraduate.
Irving Reiner Memorial Award (#773289)
The Fund shall be used to provide awards to one or more graduate students
who are enrolled in the field of algebra in the Department of Mathematics
at the University of Illinois.
Brahana and Math Instructor Award

The funds shall be used to (1) annually award the H. Roy Brahana Prize
in Mathematics to an outstanding student, undergraduate or graduate, with
excellence in mathematics, without regard to the college or curriculum
in which the student is enrolled; and (2) to annually award one or more
outstanding teaching assistant(s) in mathematics with instructional awards.
Paul T. Bateman Number Theory Prize

completed their doctoral studies in the Department of Mathematics in the
College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign.
Kuo-Tsai Chen Award in Mathematics Fund (#771574)
Funds shall be used to provide an award to a graduate student who has
completed at least one year of graduate work toward the Ph.D. degree in
the Department of Mathematics at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
The award shall be given in the spring of odd-numbered years beginning
in 1989.

The Fund shall be used to support an annual series of public lectures
by a distinguished mathematician. The lecture series are called the Arthur
B. Coble Memorial Lectures.
Trjitzinsky Memorial Lectureship

The Fund shall be used by the Department of Mathematics for a Waldemar
Trjitzinsky annual lecture series. These expenses may include but are
not limited to honorarium, travel and accommodations, publicity, receptions
and publications associated with the lecture series
