Download with MatlabIf you are using Octave, click here for installation instructions. Start Matlab, copy and paste the following line to your Matlab prompt, and hit Return: eval(urlread('http://www.math.uiuc.edu/iode/code/install.m'))
This line will launch Iode's installation script.1 The installation script will ask you to enter an installation directory for Iode. If you simply hit Return without entering anything, Iode will be installed in your current working directory. I recommend that you enter a new directory, such as my_iode. The rest of the installation does not require any further input. Enter The user interfaces barely scratch the surface of Iode. We would like to encourage everybody to study the code and modify and extend Iode. The documentation page is a good place to start. Post-installation
Footnotes1If this command fails with an error
message ( 2If you are working in one of the EWS Windows labs at UIUC, you might as well skip this step because any shortcut you create will be lost when you log out. Your installation of Iode and any other files your create will be deleted as well. Your best bet is to reinstall Iode every time you log in. This is sort of awkward (don't blame the messenger --- this problem is due to EWS policies), but it shouldn't be a big deal since installation requires only one command. |
