Updates
Talks on Saturday will be in 165 Everitt Lab (northeast corner of Green and Wright Streets). Registration will be Saturday from 8:30-8:50 in the hall outside this room and during the morning break.
The schedule and a PDF of abstracts is now available below. Talks will be 20 minutes long. There will be an overhead projector and chalkboards in the room. We also will have a projector if you would like to use a laptop during your talk, although you never know how fickle technology will be so we recommend you print out slides as a backup.
Looks like it will be warmer than usual this weekend, with highs in the mid 40's and a slight chance of rain.
If you are not staying within walking distance of the math department, you may park for free in the parking garage on the southwest corner of 5th Street and John (John is one block south of Green and is a bizarre street that is one way in a west direction for a block and one way in an east direction for another block).
Don't forget to bring your $10 registration fee if you haven't mailed it already.
Objectives
We hope to give graduate students and recent PhDs an opportunity to meet and practice giving talks in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Talks by graduate students and recent PhDs in all areas of number theory are welcome. We encourage graduate students of all levels to attend.
Registering
Online Registration is now available. There is a registration fee of $10 to help defray the cost of snacks and pizza for Saturday evening.
Schedule and Abstracts of Talks
Here is the conference schedule. You can also download a list of abstracts.
We plan to start bright and early Saturday morning so we highly recommend that you come Friday night. We will be done around noon on Sunday. There will be a pizza party Saturday evening.
Travel
Champaign-Urbana is located at the intersections of I-57, I-72 and I-74. Click here for a city map and click here for a searchable campus map. Urbana-Champaign is also serviced by several airlines, Amtrak and Greyhound. Please email mntcg2@math.uiuc.edu if you need a ride from the airport or bus station.
Accommodations
We have reserved a block of 20 rooms (for Friday and Saturday evening) at a Hampton Inn (1200 W. University Ave. in Urbana) which is about 4 blocks from the math department. You can make reservations by calling 217-337-1100 before Jan. 20th. Mention that you are with the Midwest Number Theory Conference.
The rate for the room is $70 per day plus tax. Each room is double occupancy so we encourage you to share rooms. If you would like us to find a roommate for you, please e-mail us mntcg2@math.uiuc.edu.
There is some free parking on campus on the weekends so if you are driving and would like to find another hotel that may not be within walking distance of the math department, click here. Unfortunately, there are no hostels or available dorm space in Urbana-Champaign.
Support
We expect to be able to partially fund travel expenses such as hotel, mileage and food. If you would like to be considered for support, please send an e-mail to mntcg2@math.uiuc.edu no later than Friday, January 21, 2005.
