I am no longer at the University and will not be maintaining this page. My new webpage can be found here.

Research Interests

My general area of interest is PDEs and eigenvalue problems, with a focus on sharp eigenvalue inequalities. I have just proved an isoperimetric inequality for the first eigenvalue of the free plate under tension. For more information on my research interests, please see my curriculum vitae and my research statement.

I am finishing my sixth and final year as a graduate student. I defended my thesis this April, and am working to prepare it for publication. My advisor is Richard Laugesen.

Talks and Seminars

In March 2008 I spoke at a sectional meeting of the AMS and the special session on isoperimetric problems and PDEs on my results.

In February 2009 I will be attending a workshop on Low Eigenvalues of Laplace and Schroedinger Operators at Oberwolfach in Germany,

In the 2007-2008 school year I was the organizer for the Women in Mathematics seminar at UIUC. (Link to past speakers and current speakers forthcoming.)
