This
exam will cover all materials presented until Monday, July 20,2009.
There will be one problem on sequence, two problems asking for convergence
behaviors of series, one power series problem, one Taylor series problem, and
an extra credit problem. Precise definition of limit (ie. Epsilon-N definition) will not be tested for
this time. Again, fundamental materials you are supposed to know is the same as exam
1. In addition, when using a convergence test, you should always show that the hypothesis of the test are satisfied before using the test.
Show ALL reasons leading to your conclusion, do NOT
assume anything “obvious” or “trivial”. Reasons like “top grows much faster
than bottom”, “exponential always beat polynomials”
will NOT get you full credit. They should only serve to help you make some
initial guess/direction. Everything should be justified by precise mathematical
statements.
Exam
will be taken place at our classroom on 9AM. The length of the exam will be 1
hour. Exams will be returned on the discussion session of the same day.
