Cory T. Palmer

I am a visiting assistant professor in the department of mathematics at the at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Previously I was junior research fellow at the Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics in Budapest, Hungary.

My general areas of interest include graph colorings, extremal set systems and applied problems in graph theory.

In June 2008 I completed my Ph.D. at Central European University in Budapest. My thesis was Edge weightings and the chromatic number. My advisor was Ervin Győri.

I spent the Fall 2007 semester as a visitor of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Memphis in Tennessee.

Before attending Central European University, I earned my B.A. in mathematics in 2003 from University of California, Berkeley. I first came to Hungary in 2002 as a student in the fantastic Budapest Semesters in Mathematics program.
