Homework and quizzes: There will be 14 weekly assignments. Assignments  #1,3,5,7,9,11,13 will be collected at the beginning of Tuesday's discussion section and will be graded. Assignments #2,4,6,8,10,12,14 will not be collected. Instead, a 15 min quiz with two exercises from that assignment will be given at the beginning of Tuesday's discussion section (excepting the week Mar 12-16, when the quiz will be on Thursday).

Only the best 10 scores (out of 14) will be taken into account. The lowest 4 scores will be dropped.

Late homework is not allowed under normal circumstances. Missed quizzes cannot be made up under normal circumstances.

Calculators are not allowed during quizzes.

Exams: There will be three hour (midterm) exams and one 3 hour final exam.

The final exam will cover all the material.

No calculators will be allowed during the hour exams or the final exam.

Grading: The total score is 500 points, computed as follows:

Homework + Quizzes (20%): 10 X 10 pts =100 pts

Hour exams (45%): 3 X 75 pts = 225 pts

Comprehensive Final Exam (35%): 175 pts

If the score (scaled in %) on the final is higher than the lowest hour exam score, this will also substitute (after appropriate scaling) the lowest hour exam score.
