Textbook: James Stewart, Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 6th edition,
with Enhanced Webassign, Thomson Brooks/Cole.
Prerequisites: Quant Reasoning II course.
Departmental Approval Required
Honors section. Grades of A in Math 220 (221) and Math 231 or score of 5 on AP calculus BC exam required.

Lectures: MTWR 10:00-10:50 am, Room 445, Altgeld Hall
Office hours: Tuesday 4-5 pm, Wednesday 4-5 pm, or by appointment.
Homework and quizzes: All 14 weekly
assignments will be submitted on WebAssign. The scores of assignments
#(2k-1), k=1,...,7, will be fully taken into account. The scores of
assignments #(2k), k=1,...,7, will not count. Instead, a quiz with
two exercises from each such assignment will be given. Only the best 12 scores (out of 14) will be taken into account.
The lowest 2 scores will be dropped. Late homework is not allowed under normal
circumstances. Missed quizzes cannot be made up under
normal circumstances. Calculators are not allowed during quizzes.
Exams: There will be three hour (midterm) exams and one 3 hour
final exam. The final exam will be comprehensive.
Grading: The total score is 500 points, computed
as follows:
Homework + Quizzes (20%): 100 pts
Hour exams (45%): 3 X 75 pts = 225 pts
Comprehensive Final Exam (35%): 175 pts
