Actuarial Exam Fee Reimbursement Program

Information

Due to the generosity of several companies, we are offering at least partial reimbursement of professional actuarial exam fees for students who pass. Currently, this is available only to those who pass Exams 1/P and 2/FM, but we may be able to expand the program in the future. Specific reimbursement amounts are dependent upon available funds and subject to change, but we strive to reimburse 100% (or as close as possible) of Exam P and FM registration fees for passing UIUC actuarial science students.

Here are some of the ground rules for receiving an exam reimbursement. These rules are not meant to be punitively exclusionary, but rather to restrict our limited funds to those students likely to be most in need of reimbursement.

(1) You must PASS the exam (so that any reimbursement is AFTER you have already paid the fee and received notice of passing).

(2) You MUST be officially in the UIUC actuarial science program BOTH when you take the exam, AND when you apply for reimbursement. (Intending to transfer into the program does not count. Ineligibility also applies once you have graduated.)

(3) Currently, reimbursement is restricted to Exams 1/P and 2/FM.

(4) Reimbursement requests must be received by the Math Business Office within 60 days of your notice of passing. It can be within EITHER 60 days after the preliminary notice of passing, or 60 days after a more formal notice (if there is one) is transmitted to you by the actuarial societies. (Note: Since the reimbursement form is new, all reimbursement requests for Fall 2008 actuarial exams must be submitted by March 15, 2009.)

Procedure to Apply for Reimbursement

We have created a reimbursement request form that specifies the information you need to prepare. You must print out and complete the form, and supply the required information. The form is online at:

http://www.math.uiuc.edu/Businessoffice/actuarial-reimbursement-form.pdf

The completed form and information must then be submitted to Prof. Gorvett for a signature, and then submitted to the Math Business Office in 221 Altgeld Hall. (If you want, you can leave the materials in the mail slot of Prof. Gorvett in 250 Altgeld Hall, and he will sign it (assuming everything is OK) and take it to the Business Office for you).
