  Notes:

  • Exam 1 is Wednesday, October 5 in 314 Altgeld (the usual lecture hall).
  • The exam covers chapter 1, chapter 2, and 3.1-3.2.
  • Formulas: Students should know the limit definition of the derivative, as well as the (general) power, chain, product, and quotient rules for derivatives. You should also know the key formulas we learned in section 2.7: Revenue = Price times Demand, Profit = Revenue - Cost.
  • Solutions to practice exam problems will be discussed in recitations on Tuesday.

• Review Sheet and Practice Problems for Exam 3 Correction: In problem 5c), the word "area" should be replaced by the word "volume".
• One more review problem for exam 3 Recall this review problem from 6.1 from the last review packet.
• Solutions to Practice Problems for Exam 3 Corrections: In problem 1d), the correct substitution is u=x^3+7. In Problem 4b), the integral should be from x=4 to x=6. This gives a final probability of e^(-.8) - e^(-1.2). In 5a), the final answer is 100/3. Thanks to Andrea Roth for pointing out the correction to 4b).
