All reading assignments should be completed before the next class. Assigned problems are to be written up and solutions handed in at the beginning of the next class.
Come to class ready to discuss any examples or problems that you were not sure of.
Classes are described in reverse time order.

Last two weeks: we will be covering the supplementary material on
conic sections (parabolas, ellipses, and hyperbolas; quadratic equations
in the plane). Copies of this material were handed out before

14.4) refer to that supplementary material.

Lab (W 11/19): in-class exam on Chapter 11 and Appendix V. Two
hours allowed for the exam, which will have the same number of problems
as a normal hour exam.
