Lecture 24, Friday, 10/24/08:
Section 13.7: Triple integrals in spherical coordinates
Topics
- Spherical coordinates
- Converting equations between rectangular, cylindrical,
and spherical coordinates
- Triple integrals in spherical coordinates
- Applications (Volume, mass, etc.)
Read
Section 13.7.
Homework
Section 13.7: 1 - 29 odds, 33, 35 (setup only), 37, 39, 41, 43, 45, 49, 53, 54,
55, 57.
Solutions.
Notes: 1 - 29 are quickies. In problems asking for a sketch,
describe verbally the shape of the region represented by the given
equation (e.g., "cone centered at origin, at angle pi/6 about z-axis,
pointing upwards"). For the latter group of problems the setup is the
most important, and most difficult, part, so focus on this part.
Except for #35, the integrations are quite doable and not too
lengthy, and you should work at least of these problems completely.
