Class summary: Monday, 2/17
I did some problems illustrating the use the normal approximation:
One type of problems involved repeated tosses with a fair coin and
questions like: What is the probability that in 1,000,000 tosses
exactly (or at most) 499,000 heads show up?
I also worked out a variant of
the airline overbooking problem that we discussed earlier (similar to
Problem 9 in Section 2.2 of the book).
