Millennial Conference on Number Theory
The Millennial Conference on Number Theory
was held May 21 - 26, 2000, on the campus of the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign. It was the largest conference of its type in recent
history, and is possibly the largest general number theory conference ever
held. The conference was attended by 276 participants from 30 countries,
ranging from the U.S. and Canada to European countries and to far-away
places such as Fiji, Japan, Taiwan, China, and Australia.
It featured 157 talks, including 19 one-hour plenary talks
and 73 invited half-hour talks.

Special Year in Number Theory, 1999-2000.
The Millennial Conference was the highlight of a Special Year in
Number Theory at the University of Illinois in 1999/2000, but
a number of smaller conferences and workshops were also held
during that year.

The proceedings of the Millennial conference are currently
being published by A K Peters
in three hardcover volumes, totaling nearly 1400 pages, under the
title Number Theory for the Millennium I, II, III.

Producing these proceedings was a major undertaking with few
precedents, and
required dealing with a number of issues - both technical and
non-technical. This site describes in some detail how this was
accomplished.

Proceedings was to produce a document that meets the highest scientific
and production quality standards but is made available at a most
