Workshop on the Interface of Probability and Number Theory

May 20, 2001

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

This workshop, organized by A.J. Hildebrand (ajh@uiuc.edu) and Walter Philipp (wphilipp@math.uiuc.edu), is a satellite meeting to the Illinois Number Theory Conference, May 18 - 19, 2001. It is modelled after a similar workshop, held a year ago, as a satellite meeting to the Millennial Conference on Number Theory.

Schedule: The workshop will begin at 9 am on Sunday, May 20, and will last through mid-afternoon. The workshop will feature the following main talks:

Most of these talks will be survey talks, aimed at a broad audience ranging from number theorists to probabilists.

Contributed talks: We may be able to accommodate a very limited number of 20 minute contributed talks; because of limited time on the day of the workshop, these talks will likely be scheduled Saturday afternoon during the Illinois Number Theory conference. If you are interested in giving a talk that would be appropriate for the workshop, please use the Registration Form for the Illinois Number Theory conference to submit a title and an abstract, and indicate on the form that the talk is intended for the workshop.

Travel information: Please refer to the webpage for the Illinois Number Theory Conference for information on travel and lodging.
