    IODE

There is an ordinary differential equations package, written to run under Octave (or Matlab) called IODE which has been developed by Peter Brinkmann , Robert Jerrard , and Richard Laugesen. You may find this package useful for many homework assignments, especially those which involve plotting slope fields, etc. You are heartily encouraged to experiment with this package.

    Corrections/Updates

  • 09-03-2002 There is a small type on the class schedule handed out in class. There will not be a midterm on Nov. 20. The three exams are Sept. 20, Oct. 18 and Nov. 15. This, and some smaller typos, have been corrected in the syllabus/schedule.
  • 09-03-2002 Web site updated to include postscript and PDF versions of all downloadable material.
  • 09-06-2002 IODE: If you need a math department account to use IODE please speak with me after class or during office hours.
  • 09-19-2002 REMINDER: Homework 3 is now due on Monday, Sept. 23.
  • 09-19-2002 EXAM: If you have last minute questions on the material, you can try to find me before class. I teach 10-11, and eat lunch 12-1, but I should be in my office at most other times.
  • 10-04-2002 HW5: Homework 5 is now due on Wed, rather than Monday, in order to give you access to office hours before the assignment is due.
  • 10-09-2002 HW5: There is a typo iin the posted version of Homework 5 - it should be -6x rather than 6x.
  • 10-09-2002 Please fill out the midsemester feedback form and mail it to me (or leave it in my mailbox), if you have not already.

  • 10-16-2002 Practice Exam Typo: In the practice exam the graph of f(y) was omitted. The graph can be downloaded by clicking here.
  • 10-17-2002 Solutions to HW#3 are available, for anyone missing them.
  • 10-18-2002 There are two typos in the solutions to the practice exam:

    2b) Should be alpha > 1 or alpha < -2.

    3) should be -1 < 2t < 2 or -1/2 < t < 1

  • 11-20-2002 Class on Monday Dec 2 will be in the Algeld Hall computer lab (129-130 AH), where you will work on the third Lab.
