My two most important non-math avocations are music and running.

Thank Chris for showing me this. Here are a couple of my favorites: link link link link link link link

I try to be a vegan. As a human, I am dependent upon the culture in which I live. For example, I do not make everything that I consume. The culture in which I live is very dependent on animal products. This makes it hard for me to be vegan. It is not impossible, however. There are many people who have devoted more energy to being vegan than I am willing to devote. They make it easier for people like me. (Click "they" for some links.)

In the spring of 2005 I married Jennifer Nakasone, who took my name and became Jennifer Elliot. We honeymooned in San Francisco, then visited her family in Hawaii. I had the opportunity to go surfing at Waianae. The surf on that side is not great in the summer, but for me as a beginner it was plenty. An irony is that I spent much of my childhood on the coast of North Carolina, where there were ample opportunities to surf.

Jenn is now a math teacher at Centennial High School.

Jenn and I are members at the Commond Ground Co-op, a great place to buy organic and locally-grown food.

I have one brother and one sister. My brother graduated from medical school in 2004 and is doing residency in Pensacola, FL. My sister is studying to become a nurse's aid in Colorado. My Mother lives in North Carolina and my Father lives in Colorado. Most of my in-laws live in Hawaii.
