Text: Smith and Minton, Calculus: Early Transcendentals, 3rd edition.
Math 231 covers essentially all of Chapters 6, 8, and 9, as well as Section 7.1.

You are welcome to attend the office hours of any instructor in the course.
Course policies:
1. Except for the first week, there will be a quiz on Thursday of every week in which there is not an hour exam. Each quiz will contain at least one problem taken directly from the relevant homework.
2. Calculators are not permitted on quizzes or exams.
3. Homework is not to be handed in unless otherwise specified. It is entirely possible that no homework will be graded in the course.
4. The nine highest of the ten quizzes will be used in calculating the quiz/homework component of the grade. If you miss a quiz due to illness or other routine circumstances, that quiz will be the one discarded for you. If extraordinary circumstances result in multiple missed quizzes, contact Professor Miles.
