Announcements

Wednesday, November 19 - Some of the Exam 3 information has been posted - specifically directions for requesting a conflict exam.  Please see the exams link above for more details.

Thursday, November 13 - There was a mistake in the original posting of Written Homework 8 question #1.  It was corrected as of 7pm tonight.  If you already printed out the assignment, you'll need to look at the updated link and correct #1.

Thursday, October 23 - Updates have been made to the Exam 2 Content Information (found in the Exams link above).  If you already printed it out, you should look at it again to see the additions.

There will be no class on Weds, Oct 29.

Monday, October 6 - Solutions to Exam 1 are now posted in the Exams link above.  There is a separate link for each version.

Remember - if you are considering dropping down to Math 012, you need to visit 313 Altgeld Hall as soon as possible.  Paperwork must be completed and returned to them by 4pm on Tuesday, Oct 7.

Friday, October 3 - Exam 1 scores are now posted in the on-line gradebook (see the Grade Info link above to access it).  Remember that the exam was out of 75 points.  The median score was around 53/75 or about a 71%.

We will talk more about the exam results in lecture on Monday.  For now, please note that if you are considering dropping down to Math 012, the deadline for doing so is Tuesday, October 7 at 4pm.  You should visit room 313 Altgeld as soon as possible if you are at all considering changing to Math 012.

Wednesday, October 1 - Homework 4 has now been posted - both the MathZone portion and the on-line portion.  See the Homework link above for details.

Tuesday, September 23 - Updated information has been added to the Exams link above - including room assignments for Exam 1.  Please read the information carefully.

Wednesday, September 17 - We have decided to change the Conflict Exam policy slightly.  The conflict exam will not be held the next morning after the exam.  We will announce the day of the conflict exam prior to each exam - the time will still be 6:45am.  For Exam 1, we've decided to move the conflict exam to Monday, September 29 at 6:45am.

Due to the evening exam on Thursday, September 25, we will NOT have class on Friday, September 26.

Friday, September 12 - The course information states that the lowest homework scores will be dropped at the end of the semester - one MathZone assignment and one written assignment.  To compensate for the issues that some people faced when getting logged into MathZone for the first assignment, we have decided to drop TWO MathZone assignments instead of just one.

Wednesday, September 2 - The Illini Union Bookstore received their shipment of MathZone access cards.  If you purchased a textbook there and did not receive the MathZone access, take your receipt to the textbook counter in the basement.  They will give you an access card.  If you have lost your receipt, IUB will not give you a card at this time so do not go ask.  The only exceptions are those students who pre-ordered their books on-line - IUB has a way of looking up those orders.  If you lost your receipt and did not pre-order your book, contact Jennifer McNeilly at jrmcneil@illinois.edu right away with your name and the date you purchased your book from IUB.  You will receive further instructions in a few days.

TIS received their shipment of Math Zone access cards.  If you purchased a textbook there, take your receipt to the textbook counter on the second floor.  They will give you an access card.  If you have lost your receipt, you should still go to the textbook counter and talk to them.  They have ways of re-printing receipts to verify that you purchased the book at that store.

Thursday, August 28 - Some of the bookstores have copies of the book in stock right now.  However, some are still not bundled with the MathZone Access Cards.  DO NOT PURCHASE THE MATHZONE ACCESS SEPARATELY!  The price of the book is supposed to include the MathZone Access.  Go ahead and purchase the textbook, but hold on to your receipt.  You will be able to take that receipt back to the bookstore to get the access card whenever they are in stock.

Tuesday, August 26 - If you are one of the students who purchased a textbook from the Illini Union Bookstore an did not receive the MathZone Access Card, KEEP YOUR RECEIPT.  The bookstore should be receiving Access Cards in the next couple of days.  You will need to take your receipt in to obtain your Access Card.  Do NOT go to the bookstore and ask about this yet - we will post here when the Access Cards have arrived.  Anyone who buys a book after today should receive the Access Card with it.

Monday, August 25 - If you already purchased a textbook for this course from the Illini Union Bookstore, then it looks like you did NOT receive an Access Card for the MathZone on-line homework system.  We will be talking to the publisher and the bookstore on Tuesday to find out how we will resolve this issue.  For now, please be patient and continue to check this website for updates.
