MathZone On-line Homework System
In order to use the system, you must first register in MathZone for a specific course/textbook. To do this you will need the registration code that came bundled with your text. You will then also need a Section ID to make sure that you enter the right website for your lecture. The Section IDs for each lecture are:
Lecture A1 8AM
AC9-76-F6F
Lecture X1 Noon FCE-3E-AF3
Lecture F1 2PM 43E-74-B8C
Lecture F2 2PM 774-7D-667
To begin the registration process, go to www.mhhe.com/uillinois/math115 and then click on the link on the left that says "I am a Student." You will then need to enter the 20 digit access code that came on the access card that came with your book. If you are a first-time user, you will then set up your account, user name, and password - PLEASE USE YOUR U of I E-MAIL AS YOUR USERNAME! Once your account is set up, you will be given the option to Enroll in a Section/Course. Enter the Section ID that corresponds to the lecture for which you are registered (see above). This should pull up the site specific for your lecture (your lecture time and instructor should appear at the top right).
Once you've completed this registration process, whenever you need to access your MathZone homework site, go to www.mhhe.com/uillinois/math115 and enter your username and password in the boxes on the left.
Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the many features of MathZone besides simply completing homework assignments:
There is free on-line tutoring available Mon-Thurs 8am-11pm and Fri 8am-8pm. Click on the "On-line Tutor" tab and then the "NetTutor" link.
There are many supplemental materials available under the Self-Study tab including an eProfessor for each section (a step-by-step solution/explanation to some of the problems in the text), practice exercises for each section, interactive applets for most sections, Connect2Calculus Videos for each chapter, and much more. Some of these features will be assigned as part of the homework assignments and/or used during lecture. However, I strongly encourage you to explore these features more fully and take full advantage of them as you study.
You can access pdf files of each chapter from the textbook within the Self-Study tab. Choose any section of the book. Enter the Practice Exercises. On the right, you'll see a button that says "Link to Text". This will take you to a pdf of that section in the textbook.
If you experience technical problems, please call 1-800-331-5094. Technical support personnel should be available Sunday 6pm-11pm, Monday-Thursday 8am-11pm, and Friday 8am-6pm.
While we realize that technical problems may occur from time to time, the excuse of "MathZone ate my homework" will not be accepted. You should always write out complete solutions to the problems that you do on MathZone. Not only is this the best practice in terms of your study habits, but this will also give you a written record of your work in case any technical problems do occur.
