This is the second course in the regular calculus sequence at UIUC. The text is Edwards and Penney, Calculus (Early Transcendentals), Edition 6e. We will cover Chapters 7, 10, and 9 in that order, with also one lecture from each of Chapter 6 and Chapter 8.

There will be weekly quizzes, three midterms, and a final examination. Your grade will be determined by your performance on these quizzes and examinations. The quizzes and examinations count as follows in determining your grade for the course:

Quizzes10%
Midterm I 20%
Midterm II 20%
Midterm III 20%
Final 30%

I will be regularly recommending certain homework problems to look at to help with your understanding of the material in the course. The weekly quizzes will be on Thursdays, starting January 27th. They will consist of one of the assigned homework problems (or a variation on one of them). There will be 11 quizzes, with the lowest score being dropped. There will be no quiz during a week with a midterm examination.

I am going to set the MIDTERMS now to be in lecture on

Wednesday, February 16th
Wednesday, March 30th
Wednesday, April 27th

According to the university schedule, our FINAL will be in our lecture room from

1:30-4:30 PM, Tuesday, May 10
