My name is Ilya Kapovich and I'm a Professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

No, this is NOT a Borg cube! Actually, this is a picture of a "space-filling curve", the kind of a curve that can be associated to certain HNN-extensions of hyperbolic surface groups.
