Note: beginning Monday Sept. 8, there will be one or two MathZone problems due before each lecture. These will not be listed here. You should log in to www.mathzone.com to do these assignments.

Assignment #1, due Tues, Sept. 2, at the beginning of your discussion section.

Read Sections 1.2 and 1.3 of the textbook. Turn in the following exercises. You should write out complete solutions. In other words, show your work rather than just giving the final answer. You can find the final answer to many of the problems in the back of the textbook.

Turn in:

Also, be able to state the Squeeze Theorem and give an example of how it is used (nothing to turn in for that).

 

Quiz #1, Thursday, Sept. 4, in your discussion section. Sections 1.2 and 1.3. Quiz problems will be very similar to homework problems.

Assignment #14, due Tues. Dec. 9 at the beginning of your discussion section

Read Sections 5.3 and 5.4 and turn in the following exercises:

Section 5.3, Exercises 1, 5, 17, 19 (for 17 and 19, just decide whether shells or disks/washers would work better – you are not asked to set up and evaluate the integrals, although it would be good extra practice).


Wed. Dec. 10 is the last day of classes.


Sections 5.4 and 5.6 suggested problems. Not to be turned in, but suggested practice for the final exam.

Section 5.4, Exercises 15, 19, 35, 37, 39 (for these five problems, set up the integral but do not evaluate)
