Turn off cell phones etc. during class.
Feel free to ask questions during lecture. Please raise your hand when you’d like to
speak.
Come to the front of the room after class if you’d like to
ask a question or discuss anything with me.
If you believe there has been a grading error on any of your
work, discuss it first with your TA. If
that doesn’t settle the matter, then bring it promptly to my attention. Please explain the situation in writing and
give it to me in class, in my mailbox in 250 Altgeld,
or by email.
Contact me as soon as possible if an unusual, serious
situation interferes with your class work (such as a major illness or family
emergency).
Contact me promptly with any concerns you have about the
course so that I can try to address these concerns. If you wait too long, a small problem may
turn into a big problem!
Call me “Dr. Mortensen” and ask your TA what he or she would
like to be called.
DON’T
Talk to others during the lecture. This distracts the instructor and makes it
hard for others to hear the lecture.
Read the newspaper, etc. during lecture.
Expect the TA or instructor to give you private tutoring if
you miss class. In this case, it is your
responsibility to learn the material from the book.
Cheat on exams in any way.
This will result in very serious consequences.
