Welcome to my homepage!
I am currently a graduate student in the
Department of
Mathematics at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign. I am writing my dissertation with Slawomir
Solecki.
My interests are in mathematical logic and analysis,
primarily in descriptive set theory. I am working on a problem dealing
with the characterization of ideals of small sets.
I grew up in Delhi, the capital of India. I did a
three-year undergraduate degree in mathematics at St. Stephen's College in
Delhi. After my B.A. I worked for Development Alternatives
researching energy efficient, low cost and environmentally sustainable
building materials for rural Indian communities. I then completed an
M.A. degree in mathematics, also at St Stephen's. During the final year
of my
degree there I was affiliated with the Center for Mathematical
Sciences as a student researcher.
In the Fall of 1999, I joined the doctoral program
in mathematics at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. I
earned another M.A. in 2001. I have a Graduate
Teacher Certificate and I have taught various levels of calculus,
linear algebra and a numeracy course for non-math majors.
