Rules for Exams
- Exam location: Rooms will be posted on the web page as far in advance as possible.
- Time allowed: 10 - 10:50 a.m., as determined by the bell (or, if the
bell malfunctions, by my timepiece). If you show up late, you will still have to
finish by 10:50 a.m.!
- Excused absences: See the Course Policies page for details on missed hour exams.
- Cheating: Don't do it! See the Student Code for official university policies.
Customary rules apply, among them:
- You may not talk to other students.
- You may not seek assistance from anyone else during the exam.
- You may not look at the exam of someone else.
- All other standard rules about cheating! You should know what they are. As the Student Code says, "Ignorance of a rule is never a defense."
- Calculators: Calculators are not allowed! You won't need one,
anyway.
- Other electronic devices: no electronic device of any kind is
allowed: no cell phones, iPods, laptops, walkmen, headphones, blackberries, etc.
- Books/notes: you may not use any books, notes, formula sheets, etc.
- Scratch paper: you may not bring your own scratch paper. I will provide
adequate scratch paper for use during the exam.
- Hats: you may not wear a hat or other headgear during the exam.
- Student IDs: you must bring your student ID to the exam. I reserve the
right to check it!
- Questions: If you have any questions about the rules, you should ask before the exam.
