  2. This book contains very good examples of risk and threat assessments using real world data.

  3. Dawson, Richard, The Blind Watchmaker.
  4. This book contains interesting examples of varying degrees of improbable events.

  5. Holt, Port, and Stone, Introduction to Probability Theory, Houghtin Mifflin, Boston (1971).

A basic book emphasizing probability theory calculations and consistency.

Game Theory

  1. Davis, M., Game Theory, A Nontechnical Introduction, Dover Publications, N.Y. (1983).
  2. This book should be sampled first as an introduction to game theory. The next two are excellent for static and dynamic game theory.

  3. Owen, G., Game Theory, Academic Press, N.Y. (1995).
  4. Brams, S., Theory of Moves, Cambridge University Press (1994).
  5. Theory of Moves is dynamic game theory where strategies change as the game proceeds.

Attrition Models

  1. Military Operations Research Journal is a good reference for many articles on combat models and operations research.
  2. PHALANX, The Bulletin of Military Operations Research has many articles on combat modeling and attrition.

Defense Studies

  1. Defense Analysis is an important journal that contains many articles of interest.
  2. Melese, F., and Palmore, J., "Ballistic Missile Defense: Protection or Placebo?", Defense Analysis, Vol. 16, No. 1 (April 2000), pp. 89-93.
