Course Policies

Homework:

Homework will be assigned weekly, and collected at the beginning of the class each Thursday.
Each assignment will announced in class and on this webpage.
Late homework will not be accepted. If you are prevented from attending the Thursday lecture, you can submit your homework by putting it in my mailbox in 250 Altgeld Hall PRIOR to class meeting time.
Some weeks only a subset of the assigned problems might be graded. But in this case, I will not tell you in advanced which ones, and you are expected to submit solutions to all assigned problems.
Note that solutions must be written clearly and legibly: If we can not read, we can not grade it. Moreover, please write your name and your class section on every page you are handing in. If you are submit more than one sheet, please staple your homework.

Exams:

There will be two midterm exams, given in class, and one final. The dates will be announced in advance during class and on this website.

Grades:

The course grade will be the average of your homework, midterm exams, and final exam grades, weighted as follows:
10% Homework (the lowest homework score will be dropped)
20% each Midterm exam
50% final exam

Letter grades will be assigned according to: A-/A/A+ 90%, B-/B/B+ 80%, C-/C/C+ 70%, D/D+ 55%, F for less than 55%. This may be adjusted downwards if necessary.

You should feel free to ask me at any time for information about your performance.
