And You Are ... ?

I'm Buffy. The Vampire Slayer. And you are...? -- Buffy Summers, BtVS Episode 3.1 ("Anne")

I am a J. L. Doob Research Assistant Professor and NSF postdoc at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

During the Fall 2008 semester I taught one section of MATH 347: Fundamental Mathematics. During the Spring semester I taught a graduate topics course (MATH 595) on elementary methods in number theory. I am away from UIUC for the 2009—2010 academic year, here (Fall) and here (Winter+Spring).

My research interests are in number theory, especially when attached to the adjectives elementary, analytic, and combinatorial. My thesis concerns the arithmetic of polynomials over finite fields, and was done under the supervision of Carl Pomerance at Dartmouth College.

My text on elementary methods in number theory, Not Always Buried Deep, has recently been published by the American Mathematical Society. If you find a mistake, please e-mail me and have it added to the errata list here.
