Hieroglyphics

When I grade papers, I often end up writing funny symbols on them. Some of these symbols are commonly used in mathematics, whereas others I cooked up myself. The following table gives English translations of some of these symbols, and indicates which among them are in common usage:

Office Hours

My office hours are held in 245 Illini Hall, on the north side of the building. The hallway leading to the room is easy to miss, since it is flanked by two cabinets. The Fall 2011 hours are:

  • Wednesday, 2pm-3pm

If you wish to meet with me, but are not available during my office hours, please contact me and we can set up a meeting at some other time.

My office hours (and the hours during which I will regularly be unavailable for tutoring) are also now available in the embedded Google calendar below. See also: technology, gratuitous use of.
