Peer Feedback Draft
Writer's name:_____________________________ Assignment #:______________
Your name:________________________________ Date:_____________________
Please fill this out in advance of the peer feedback session. Attach
it to the first draft and bring it with you to return to the writer. You
may wish to write some comments on the first draft as well.
Important note: Your job is to read your fellow student's first
draft carefully and give feedback which will help the writer in revising
and improving the draft. The first draft and the peer feedback forms will
be turned in with the final draft, but the grade will be based on the quality
of the final draft. Your thorough and honest comments can help the writer
to earn a better grade on the final draft!
-
Is the mathematical argument clear? Can you follow each step of
the argument? Does each step follow from the previous steps. Are
there steps which need more justification or which are simply unclear?
If so, please explain.
-
Is the mathematical argument correct? If you find anything that
doesn't seem right to you, please explain. Has the problem been fully answered
or the statement fully proved (whichever applies)?
-
Is the argument written concisely? Are there words or sentences
which could be eliminated?
-
Introduction. Is there an introduction which restates the problem
and gives an answer (if applicable) and a brief indication of the method
of solution? Any suggestions for improving the introduction?
-
Conclusion. Is there a conclusion that discusses why the problem
is of interest? Any suggestions for improving the conclusion?
-
Notation. Is each mathematical symbol clearly identified? Is it
clear what mathematical object each symbol represents? Where applicable,
is it clear which symbols are variables and which are constants?
Is there too much notation? Too little? Are any symbols used to mean two
different things? Are the symbols used consistently or do they change in
the middle of the paper?
-
Are words used correctly and precisely? Point out any vague language
and pronouns whose antecedent is not clear.
-
Are the grammar, spelling and punctuation correct? Give specific
suggestions for improvements in these areas.
